SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR SENIORS!
If you are a high school senior who plays, referees or coaches in our Club, you may be eligible for the 2008 college scholarships offered by the Michigan State Premier Soccer Association and the Great Lakes Soccer League. We will put links to the scholarship applications in the late winter/early spring when the applications and rules are posted on the websites. If you apply, please let the Club know at the Club Hotline 313-565-4433, and we can write you a letter of recommendation. One of our members, Blake Bankwitz, who has played, refereed and coached in our Club, won both scholarships in 2007.
SPORTSMANSHIP
Overall, Spring 2008 was an outstanding year for the Dearborn Soccer Club. We are grateful to all of our volunteer coaches,
supportive parents and referees for their commitment. While the vast majority of coaches and parents conducted themselves
appropriately, last year we unfortunately had a few situations where people let their competitiveness get the best of them
and lost their cool. As a result, in Fall 2008 Season the Board is taking a very strong position against negativity in all
forms, and encourage good sportsmanship. Coaches, parents and players who violate the
spirit of our program by degrading players, referees or others using foul language, violent actions, or otherwise deprive others from enjoying the game, will
be suspended and/or expelled from the program. The League's Rules Committee will have the authority to take the appropriate
action. All parents, coaches and players are required to sign a Soccer Sportsmanship Commitment contract to signify their
commitment to these goals.
Remember, the members of the Dearborn Soccer Club are dedicated to having fun while learning the game of soccer.
Through family involvement, we foster team spirit, sportsmanship, social development and a positive self-image. Players of
all backgrounds, ages and abilities have an equal opportunity to participate, excel and enjoy the game. As a part of the
program every Player/Parent must
sign and return the acknowlagement page of the Dearborn Soccer Clubs Sportsmanship Guidelines to their coach before the start of the season.
