This website is designed to satisfy your goalkeeping needs by Shel Brodsgaard, the former National Teams Goalkeeper Coach for the Canadian Soccer Association (2000-2006).  The idea of specialized training for goalkeepers was introduced to Shel in his youth by his father, Kjeld Brodsgaard (a former amateur goalkeeper) and a host of local goalkeepers (Grant Darley & Gord Reading) from his hometown in Victoria, British Columbia. The passion these three shared for the position of goalkeeper, as well as the desire to educate and train youth inspired Shel in many ways from an early age.  In addition to working for the CSA, Shel has conducted goalkeeper development programs for community level coaches and goalkeepers of all ages across North America since Island Keeper Clinics was established in 1993.

IKC goalkeeper development services include club-based development programs, mentorship training, residential camps, summer camps, high performance training, elite residential goalkeeper training and development, match analysis and assistance with University (Canada) or College (USA) scholarships. Shel has also produced his own personal line of educational resources which you may choose from: the Guarding the Goal DVD Video; Guarding the Goal Instructional Book; Speed and Agility Training DVD Video; and Goals and Dreams which is a book celebrating the success of Canadian Women's Soccer.

IKC DENMAN ISLAND RESIDENTIAL GOALKEEPER TRAINING

Island Keeper Clinics is proud to announce the return of the Denman Residential Development Program (DRDP) for it’s third season beginning in October 2008. Shel Brodsgaard will once again train small groups of goalkeepers on a regular basis from his home on Denman Island. The program will require participants in the program to miss school, once a month for up to three days. Therefore, candidates for this program must hold a high academic standing. There will be an application process to be selected for this program. Once accepted it will be essential to arrange a training schedule that suits the needs of the families involved. The player to coach ratio will be 4:1 for the duration of the training on Denman Island. Each of the participants will receive access to IKC On-Line Learning via www.scoutingsolutions.com. This will be our second year exploring this avenue for remote learning, and we all hope with time to truly enjoy the benefit of this service. The duration of the program will run from October-May with a two-month break for December & January. Which means a total of six-months of work based on Denman Island working directly with Shel Brodsgaard.

IKC HIGH PERFORMANCE GK TRAINING IN VICTORIA, BC

2008 Island Keeper Clinics Fall Development Programs Island Keeper Clinic High Performance Fall Training Programs based in Victoria will be located at Hampton Park. This year will see a change that you must be made aware of regarding the programs we have traditionally run in the past. The advanced group of goalkeepers no longer train on Sundays, but we will now utilize a training session on Fridays in the afternoon for this particular age group. This means the Sunday night sessions will be solely for intermediate level goalkeeper development. The start date for the advanced level goalkeeper development program will be Friday, September 19th from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm and for the intermediate level goalkeeper development programs on Sunday, September 21st. Both programs will conclude at the end of fourteen sessions (including pro-d day camps). The only exception to this schedule is the thanksgiving weekend, where there will be no camps planned for the Friday or Sunday.
