SFAI Evans Cup Last 32 Spot for Belvedere Under 15's

Belvedere Under 15's advanced to the last 32 of the SFAI Evans Cup with a 4 - 0 win over Tolka Rovers at the Army Grounds in the Phoenix Park. Later at the same venue  the Under 17's won 3 - 1 over Leixlip United in the league, while the Under 16's had no luck as they lost 1 - 0 away to Cherry Orchard at the Lawn.

Belvedere Through to Last 32 of SFAI Under 14 Goodson Cup 

At a cold and frosty Springdale Road, on Saturday 29th November, Belvedere Under 14's secured their place in the the last 32 open draw of the National SFAI Goodson Cup with an impressive 4 - 0 win away to Saint Malachys.

Paul Corry Named in Republic of Ireland Under 18 Squad

Belvedere Under 17's captain Paul Corry has been named in the Republic of Ireland Under 18 squad for the Limoges four -nation friendly tournament in France from October 26th - November 2nd 2008. Former Belvedere player Danny Joyce ( Reading) is also included in the squad. Ireland will play Serbia on Tuesday, France the hosts on Thursday and finally Denmark on Saturday November 1st.

Seven Belvedere Players in Republic of Ireland Under16's

The Republic of Ireland  played Northern Ireland in two Under 16  friendly internationals on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st October at Whitehall, Dublin. The first match ended even at 3 - 3, while the visitors won the second 3 - 1. Belvedere's Neil Byrne, Daniel McMahon, John O'Sullivan and Chris Lyons all played in the first match on Monday, while their club team mates Michael Barker, James Kavanagh and Dean Smith played in the second match on Tuesday.

Ireland Under 16's Bounce Back Against Turkey

On Thursday 16th October 2008 the Republic of Ireland Under 16's bounced back to win 4 - 2 over Turkey at Bolu. The Turks had won the first of the two international friendlies 4 - 0 on Tuesday, so Ireland did really well to reverse the result in the second match. Irish Manager Vincent Butler brought an 18 man squad to Turkey, including Belvedere Under 15's James Kavanagh and John O'Sullivan.

Noel O'Reilly.....The Most Remarkable Character I ever met

Some very thoughtful and sincere words have been written in the newspapers, broadcasted on the television and radio and posted on websites over the last few days about the late Noel O'Reilly who sadly passed away on Friday 26th September 2008. But no doubt, the appreciation by Vincent Butler which appeared in the Irish Independent on Saturday 27th September will be hard to match.

Noel O'Reilly.......Never to be Forgotten

From the earliest days of his involvement in 1971, Noel O'Reilly made a massive contribution to the development and success of Belvedere Football Club as both a manager  and coach before moving to the FAI in 1999 to work alongside Brian Kerr. Belvedere Chairman Fergus McCabe recalls some fond memories of Noel.

 Captain Treacy Scores for Republic of Ireland Under 21's

Former Belvedere player Keith Treacy (Blackburn Rovers ) captained the Republic of Ireland Under 21's and scored in the 1 - 1 draw away to Austria in a friendly international on Tuesday 19th August 2008. Keith was joined in the Irish squad by former Belvedere players Stephen Henderson (Bristol City ) and Gary Breen (Hereford United ).

Skelly in Republic of Ireland Under 17 Squad

Belvedere Under 16's Sean Skelly has been named in the Republic of Ireland Under 17 squad for the double friendly internationals away to Bulgaria in Sophia on Tuesday 12th and Thursday14th August 2008. Also named in the 18 man Irish squad is former Belvedere player Danny Joyce who signed for Reading in July.

Belvedere Under14's Win Umbro Dublin Shield 

The August Bank holiday weekend was a good one for Belvedere Under 14's at the AUL Complex. Competing in the Umbro Dublin Cup Tournament in the Under 15 age group, Belvedere overcame rivals Cherry Orchard in the Shield Final on Sunday 3rd August 2008  and therefore finished 3rd overall in the Umbro Cup Tournament, with only Under 15 Premier sides St Kevins and Shels finishing above them.

DDSL Trophy Presentations 

The presentation of trophies and medals to the winners and runners-up in the DDSL 2007/08 leagues and cups was held at the Red Cow Morans Hotel on Saturday 21st June 2008. Belvedere Under 16's collected the Premier League trophy as well as Paul McGrath Cup finalists medals, while Belvedere Under 14's received medals for both runners-up in the Premier league and beaten finalist in the Thunder Cup.  Belvedere Under 15's who were unbeaten in the Premier league also received runners-up medals.

Republic of Ireland Senior Cap for Wes Hoolahan

Congratulations to former Belvedere player Wesley Hoolahan ( Blackpool ) who came off the bench late in the match to help the Republic of Ireland secure their 1 - 0 win over Columbia at Craven Cottage Stadium London on Thursday 29th May. Wes played  for Belvedere from the age of seven to eighteen and he becomes the seventh player from the club to be capped at senior international level for the Republic of Ireland.
