United gut out Challenge Cup soccer win
August 5 - Missing both goalies
wasn’t enough to stop Victoria United from adding a second
straight Sheila Anderson Challenge Cup to their resume. United
defeated Khalsa SC 2-0 in the semifinal and 3-1 over Seattle
Wolves in the cup final. “It’s back-to-back league and Anderson
cup titles,” said coach Ben Hooker. Without keepers Dan “Winnie”
Kilpatrick and Colin Gray, who both played exceptional soccer
for the defensively-sound United this season, it was up to Gorge
F.C.’s Connor Quinn, Hooker said. Victoria

Surrey not up to Challenge
July 29 - The Pacific Coast Soccer
League came to a disappointing end for Surrey United this
weekend. Surrey hosted the annual Challenge Cup to determine a
league champion on Saturday and Sunday at Cloverdale Athletic
Park but came away empty handed. Surrey's men finished second in
the league standings but were unable to hold off the Seattle
Wolves in their semi-final game on Saturday and were held out of
the championship game as a result. Surrey

Xtreme suffer
shootout heartbreak
July 29 - Just over two weeks ago,
the Tri-Cities Xtreme had five games remaining, and needed 15
points to make the final four Challenge Cup tournament, but in
the face of daunting odds and adversity, the Xtreme rolled off a
memorable run to edge past Fraser Valley for the final spot.
Counting Saturday's semi-final victory, the Xtreme won six games
in a row to make it to the Challenge Cup final on Sunday. Alas,
seven wasn't to be their lucky number - even if it did take over
120 minutes and five rounds of penalties to end their remarkable
streak.
Royal Racers take title in shootout
July 29 - One year in the Pacific
Coast Soccer League. One championship. That’s not a bad batting
average for Chilliwack’s Royal Racing U-21 men’s team, which
secured its first league title Sunday afternoon in Cloverdale.
The first year squad, which finished the regular season second
in the six-team circuit with a 6-2-2 record, bounced Kelowna in
a semi-final and then shocked the top dogs, downing Victoria 1-0
in a shootout.

Xtreme team the "double", the ultimate achievement for any
soccer club in a season.
Royal Racing wins tourney
July 29 - In a dramatic finish to
