Tryouts for the 2008-2009 US Youth Soccer Alabama ODP Program will take place on January 10-11, 2009 in Birmingham, AL at both the Rathmell Sports Park and Liberty Park Soccer Complex. Each player that attends tryouts will receive two numbered jerseys which are theirs to keep after the tryouts are complete. The majority of the tryouts are spent playing games. These games are the coaching staff’s primary evaluation tool. Players are evaluated on their performance in the games that are played that day. Alabama Youth Soccer Association, along with US Youth Soccer, will be hosting the National Youth License in the winter, 2009. The dates will be February 17th – 22nd , 2009, held at SportsBlast and 1996 Fields Soccer Complex  in Birmingham. The National Youth License, a U.S. Soccer course, focuses upon the nature of children and the adjustments adults must make to coach them. The course curriculum covers the ages of 4-12 years old. All Coaches, Directors, and Administrators, involved with youth soccer will benefit greatly from the knowledge gained within the National Youth License.
