IS YOUR TEAM
"RECHARGE" TEAM OF THE YEAR?
One of our WSWSA affiliates is the United States Adult Soccer Association, which is affiliated with USSF and FIFA (which makes us affiliated with them, as well). Recharge is a new energy drink and is one of the main sponsors for USASA. The following is a promotional item that awards/recognizes teams that give back to the game, their community, and promote soccer in a positive way. Does your team hold up to the challege???
Recharge Team of the Year Award
Overview
The Recharge Team of the Year Award is a new program that is designed to reward teams for their outstanding service off the field over the past year. The award is open to all USASA teams. There is no restriction on the caliber or level of competition, nor is there a requirement for a certain level of success on the field. This award is strictly for teams who actively volunteer or promote the game of soccer in their community.
Each month, new nominations, along with those carried over from previous months, will be reviewed to determine a monthly winner. Each monthly winner will obtain the title of “Recharge Team of the Month” and will be acknowledged and rewarded for their efforts. The 12 winning teams will then be judged against one another and the chosen team will be crowned "Recharge Team of the Year."
Teams may be nominated online or by mail by practically anybody: a player, an opposing player, coach, manager, spectator, etc. In order to be considered, the nomination form must be filled out completely and a team photo, roster, and the contact information for a team manager, player or coach must also be submitted.
Monthly winners will be selected by the national office after gaining approval from the winning team’s association. The national winner will be chosen from the 12 monthly winners and will be selected by the Executive Committee.
A representative from the winning team will be flown in to the Midyear Meeting and presented with the award during the Referee and Coach of the Year Luncheon. Awards and prizes will be granted to monthly and yearly winners.
To complete the online nomination form, click on the tab in the top left corner of this page.
You may also download the application here and mail it, along with the team photo and roster, to:

Subject: Re: Field-use vote
I received the email sent in the last few days seeking the support
of my City Council colleagues and me for a compromise regarding the fees
the City will charge for the use of its athletic fields. As you no
doubt know, Mayor Nickels had initially proposed to raise the current
fee of $40 per hour for either synthetic or non-synthetic fields to $60
per hour for use of the synthetic fields and $50 per hour for the
non-synthetic fields.
The Council today (November 24) voted unanimously to accept the
compromise which will set the hourly charge at $50 for both the
synthetic and non-synthetic fields. It is the belief of our
professional staff that revenue estimates by the Parks Department were
not entirely accurate, and that this compromise will produce the same
revenues they had projected for the Mayor’s proposal. (Given the
City’s worsening financial condition caused by the recession, we have
a challenge of delivering the services expected by our citizens, but
doing so within our revenues.)
I suspect you’d rather have had no fee increase. Many of the adult
soccer players who have contacted me over the past couple of months have
suggested that fee increases will force some players to quit. I think
everyone agrees that the worldwide economic downturn is raising
unemployment levels and creating financial insecurity for many. While
it would certainly be my hope that those who are currently enjoying
their adult soccer experience will be able to continue to do so, I think
the fee increase is reasonable and fair, as well as about the best we
can do at this time.
