Announcement from Clubs In Crisis

After seven years of circulating news about struggling clubs and supporters' efforts to save them, Clubs in Crisis is itself in danger of closing owing to changing circumstances. However, efforts are being made to to find another body willing to continue this valuable service.

Born in 2001, Clubs in Crisis was the brainchild of Tim Carder, then chairman of Brighton & Hove Albion Supporters' Club.

Tim said, "After receiving so much help from the supporters of other clubs in our various campaigns since the Goldstone Ground was sold 13 years ago, we felt it was only right to try to give something back. We know only too well how horrendous it is when your football club is in danger of folding. Sadly, so do the dedicated fans of many other clubs. Our mission was to spread news of those clubs to rally the same kind of support we received.

"Clubs in Crisis has certainly played a part in many campaigns over the last seven years -- not least, somewhat ironically, the continuing saga at Brighton! But if it has helped just one other club then it has been worth it.

"I would like to play tribute to the original editor, Clive Tinkler, who responded so enthusiastically and ably when the concept was originated; and to Jan Merritt, who has forwarded many stories over the years.

"But most of all I would like to thank the technical brain behind the website and latterly editor, Clive Moon. Without him Clubs in Crisis, and anything it may have achieved, would not have been possible. We all owe him a huge debt of gratitude for his skill and devotion over the past seven years."

Clubs in Crisis is in discussion with two bodies with a view to them taking over the website; but if anyone else might be interested in doing so then please do contact us as a matter of urgency.

Clubs In Crisis is maintained by the Brighton And Hove Albion Supporters' Club

This website came into being following the troubles experienced by Brighton & Hove Albion in 1996 when, without the mobilisation of fans across the country using the Internet, the football club would have gone out of business. The aim of this site is to ensure that when any other football club comes into a crisis, we can generate support and help from fans around the world.

If the football club you love and support is in financial trouble, has directors with dubious intentions, or if your home ground is being sold from under your feet, let us and everybody else know so we can raise the profile of your plight and generate support.

This applies both to league clubs and non-league clubs, in any country.

Please note - a Club In Crisis is not a club where your chairman won't put his hand in his pocket for another £10m player!
