Next year the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) will have existed for 20 years. The adoption of the Convention was a milestone for children's rights. The new SOS Social and Medical Centre Hargeisa, which opened in June 2008, is already making a big impact. About 1.8% of the population of Hargeisa, capital of Somaliland, is HIV positive.
