Eric Stewart Doubles Up on Coaching Certifications

Director of Coaching Eric Stewart recently completed an impressive double header of coaching certification, receiving both a USSF National "C" License and a National Youth License over the span of three months.

Offered by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), the National "C" license course is a complete, nine-day coaching course in a residential environment that immerses coaches in the culture of soccer. It consists of seven days of instruction and two days of extensive oral, written and practical examinations.

The National Youth License is offered by U.S. Youth Soccer and focuses on the coaching of U6-U12 soccer players. The six-day class combines both classroom (theory) and field (practical) sessions - during which candidates are videotaped working with children from the various age groups. It concludes with more written, oral, and practical examinations.

Please join Echo in congratulating Eric on his achievements.

Positive Coaching Alliance(PCA) Partnership

Michiana Echo is pleased to announce a partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) which has positively affected sports throughout the nation since its inception at Stanford University in 1998 with its character-building approach to sports. PCA recognizes the importance of striving to win and putting forth maximum effort to that end. However, PCA also helps coaches and parents to understand that they can have another, more important, impact on young athletes -- that is teaching life lessons through sports. Through educational opportunities during the coming year, we hope that Echo coaches and parents will find innovative ways to have an even more positive affect on our young athletes. PCA will unlock greater opportunities for Michiana Echo to reinforce its commitment to developing quality people who happen to be quality soccer players.
