Every season, more than 5,000 youngsters get to play and enjoy soccer on our city’s fields thanks to the efforts of hundreds of DC Stoddert volunteers and dedicated adults who coach kids, line fields, referee games, manage teams and drive players to practices and games. Join us at this year’s Annual General Meeting to honor several individuals whose exceptional contributions captured hearts -- as well as the spirit of DC Stoddert Soccer.
Coaches of the Year: Don Blanchon, longtime coach of the now-U15 Space Aliens as well as coach of the GHS Eagles, U11 Blue Dragons, and GU11 Blue Dragons; and
Windsor Freemyer, GU9 coach and GU9 Commissioner
Travel Coach of the Year:
Mohan Telfer, whose
U15 Rockets advanced every season for the last three and won the NCSL Div 4 division championship this fall; coach of the GU13 Blue Mischief and co-coach of the GU9 & GU10 Developmental squads.
Volunteer of the Year:
Tony Romero, GU13 Commissioner
Referees of the Year: Mike McNamee, Grade 8; Anya Higman, Grade 9
If you walked by the Hearst Recreation Center field in the afternoon on Tuesday, September 23rd, you may have seen a sea of white DC Stoddert uniforms and spied a dozen Argentine coaches hovering by the sidelines of some travel team practices.
