Recent additions and updates

August

Andy Hickey who runs the excellent Newtongrange Star site, has submitted a number of additional clubs to the Directory, as well as a few amendments.

John Meffen has again came up trumps, sending me the final, or as near to, tables of the 1911-12 and 1914-15 Scottish Reserve League and also results from Falkirk’s recent tours to Europe.

All sections up to D of the Club Directory have been completed. I’ve also made amendments to some of the finished clubs, extended dates, grounds, and record scores. I’ll be continually updating completed club pages as I receive new information.

July

Because of the Gretna episode during the summer, the elections page has been updated to reflect Annan Athletic’s elevation to the Scottish League. Also the promotion & relegation’s and play-off pages have been updated

John Meffen has sent me final tables of the Central Combination, Midland League and of the Senior Stirlingshire League of 1893-94

John and Stuart Robertson have also sent me some more results for the Dewar Shield.

Bob Perkins has sent me his work detailing every East of Scotland League table since 1923. There are still a number of discrepancies in them, so if you can help with any amendments, please contact me.

I’ve been concentrating on the Club Directory and have been working on Section D. Thanks to research carried out by Stuart Robertson on the Ayrshire Junior scene from 1933-1968, I’ve been able to update clubs in Sections A, B & C giving high wins and defeats. Stuart has published these books and are still available from him. I’ve also used Stewart Davidson's Scottish Non-League Review  (1987-2005) and his Scottish Junior Cup books (1960-1988) to do likewise for clubs from other regions.

A new page I’ve added is a list of all the top First Division / SPL goalscorers since 1890-91, and for all other divisions from 1946-47.

June

John Meffen has again supplied extensive material covering the Falkirk area with results in the Cowan Cup, Stirlingshire Coronation Trophy, Falkirk Charity Cup, Dunedin Cup and Dewar Shield all featured. There are a number of missing results in the latter two, but I hope to get these in due course. John’s also sent me some of Falkirk’s results in the East of Scotland League. There were a of course number of positional changes because of these, but the major impact was in the 1904-05 competition. Falkirk played a total of four other games I didn’t have which culminated in then actually winning the title.

May

John Meffen has supplied original research concerning the 1888-89 Falkirk & District Junior Cup plus all the final tables of the Falkirk & District League of 1898-1901.

I’ve completed section C of the Club Directory, as well as a number of amendments to already completed club pages. I intend to start work on all clubs beginning with ‘D’ and hope to have this section completed within the next six weeks.

A number of broken links concerning the Stirlingshire  pages have been repaired.

April

Gordon Baird has supplied me details of Cowdenbeath’s short-lived entry into the Midland League, as well as more on Dunfermline Athletic’s reserve side in the 1935-36 East of Scotland League.

March

Graeme McGinty has sent me the game’s from Dalkeith Thistle’s 1954 Norwegian tour.

Kenny Napier has supplied additional information on the 1902 British League Cup.

Alick Milne has sent me two more sets of final tables for the East of Scotland League’s 1931-32 and 1932-33 seasons, and members of the scottishleague.net forum have added further tables for the 1970s and 1980s. Gordon Baird has also submitted new details concerning Dunfermline reserves’ previously unknown East of Scotland League championship win of 1957-58, as well as their one season appearance in the 1930s.

I’ve added a new page featuring clubs that have had points deducted from their totals as well as one or two that have had points added.

Thanks to research by Bob Perkins, the final tables of the Highland League is now complete. Bob has published numerous books featuring the final tables of various non-league competitions and has graciously allowed me to update my page with his work.

February

Malcolm Pagan has graciously supplied his research of cup results and final tables for the various Junior competitions in Dumfries-shire that existed between 1881 and 1951. Malcolm has also given an extensive directory of the numerous Junior clubs of the area and I’ve added those clubs to the Club Directory. I’ve also added results from the West of Scotland Cup of the late 1870s, as well as additions to the list of reserve Edinburgh Cup winners and an additional result to the Inter City League of 1903-04, which takes Rangers off of the bottom!

January

I’ve added two new pages, one covering promotion and relegation since 1893, and the other detailing play-off matches since 1891. I’ve also updated the re-elections page with some more voting figures. Rob Bruce has also supplied details of the 1902 Rangers Benefit Tournament for victims of the Ibrox Disaster.

The Texaco Cup and Anglo-Scottish Cup have had the dates added.

The Scottish League Challenge Cup for 2007-08 has been added, as well as the dates for the preceeding competitions.

The 1945-1952 Supplementary Cup, 1902 British League Cup, 1938 Exhibition Trophy and 1953 Coronation Cup all added.
