Old Allegheny Soccer offers instructional, in-house recreational, and travel team soccer programs for children ages 5 - 19.
Indoor Winter Soccer Starts November 22nd December 6th
Winter indoor soccer at Perry High School will NOT start until December 6th. There is a conflict with a Perry High girls basketball scrimmage on November 22nd -- so no soccer until after Thanksgiving.
Here is the schedule starting on December 6th (which is subject to change depending on the number of players that participate):
8AM - 9AM - Ages 7 and Under
9AM - 10AM - Ages 7-9
10AM - 11AM - Ages 10-13
11AM - Noon - Ages 14-18
The winter soccer program is free to all members of Old Allegheny Soccer who have paid for fall soccer already. If you were not part of the fall soccer league, you can join and play for a $20 fee.
If you have any questions - please email or call (see contact information in left column). Winter Indoor Soccer will run until the beginning or middle of March. All are welcome.
Old Allegheny U-15 City League Champs
The U-15 City League Team won the City League Championship last night in a come from behind victory.
Old Allegheny started slow and gave up a goal about midway through the first period. Elliott #1 put alot of pressure on the defense and the Old Allegheny midfield was slow to get back on defense in the first half.
Old Allegheny also had trouble passing the ball wide and Elliott#1 clogged the middle up with four defenders back at all times.
Jerome played well in goal the first half, but some bad defensive covers and a ball that bounced off the top crossbar, across the goal line, and then out of the net was enough to give Elliott the lead at halftime, 1-0.
To start the second half, Old Allegheny made some switches to get more speed up front and more height in the middle worked very well. Dave O. went to stopper and William R. to goalie. On offense, Jerome and James and Eric overwhelmed the Elliott defense with speed.
Old Allegheny tied the game at about 10 minutes into the second half on a corner kick by Jimmy M. that was headed by David O. and then put into the net by Eric B.
Elliott made the curious decision to play back on defense to start the second half and they never really regained the initiative. Excellent goal tending by William R., including a spectacular sliding save and a great leaping catch denied Elliott on the few chances they had.
Miller G. had a great game, playing forward and outside midfield. he had the assist on the game winning goal and made some great plays on defense when Elliot was throwing everything at us to get the tying goal late in the second half. (BTW -- he also gave up going to the Steeler's game to play in this game.)
Samantha G., Zach G. and Jimmy M. played excellent defense in the second half, stopping most of the Elliott big playmaker's efforts easily. David O. stepped up at the stopper spot and Erin M. played outstanding center midfield.
Courtney F. played hard at outside mid and a stint at the end of the game at forward, banging into her opponents hard and not allowing them much freedom to get the ball off.
Sean H. and Casey L. did great work at outside mid and upfront. Sean H. had to leave the game in the second half due to illness, however.
Nia M. and Tommy B. also played well. Nia had some nice work in the opponents end, intercepting 4 passes and helping to start the second scoring play with an intercepted pass. Tommy B. had some great runs at forward and got a couple of shots on goal.
James W. played up for this game. His speed was a plus in the opening minutes of the second half and he forced the Elliott defense to spread out on coverage and wore the defenders down during the second half.
It was an exciting end to a great season. Congratulations to the players on a great year.

Spring Travel Soccer PA West has Spring Leagues for U19, U16, U14 and U12 travel teams. If you are interested in playing on one of these teams, contact Dave or Ron and we will put you on a waiting list. We need Coaches to organize these teams.
We are looking for volunteers. All administrative positions are open. President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Snack Bar Coordinator (this could be a group job), A, B and Instructional League Commissioners, Registrar, Advertising Manager, Referee Coordinator and Field Manager (this could be a group job also) are some of the jobs we need help with. Call Dave or Ron (or email us by clicking on the link on the left) if you can help.
Referees For our program to grow, we need certified referees. PA West offers courses and we will pay your fee. We pay certified referees $15 per game for in house games and travel games pay up to $30. Call Dave or Ron or e-mail us if you are interested.
We are always looking for ways to make Old Allegheny Soccer better. Again, call or email us with your suggestions.

A League Champs 2008
October 25, 2008
Fans, coaches and players were treated to a great morning of soccer today.
The first game, between A3 Heard Funeral Home (Maroon) and A2 Kasunick Welding (Blue) was hotly contested. A3 opened an early lead on a goal by Patrick Banze (Ricky McNulty on a nice assist). However, Maroon came back in the second period with a goal from Kala Cinker.
The two teams battled through halfway into the 4th quarter in a 1-1 tie before Jeremy scored the game winning goal on an assist from Nia Miller.
In the championship game, A1 Breadworks (Gold) battled A4 Parkvale (Green) in a hard fought match but came up short by a score of 3-2. Late pressure by A1 in the 4th quarter resulted in one goal, but some good goaltending by Nico denied A1 the tying goal.
The final playoff results were:
1st Place A4 Parkvale (Green)
2nd Place A1 Breadworks (Gold)
3rd Place A2 Kasunick Welding (Blue)
4th Place A3 Heard Funeral Home (Maroon)
All of the players and coaches are to be congratulated on a wonderful and exciting season. This was one of the best years in terms of team matchups we have seen at Old Allegheny and the kids worked hard. ALmost every player improved during the season and it was great to see that hard work payoff in an exciting playoff series.
B-League Champs 2008
October 25, 2008
The early consolation games were played in the rainy and sloppy conditions at Brighton Heights Field. After the consolation games, the championship game was held.
The regular season last place team, B1 Harv's (Navy Blue) played B2 Breadworks (Gold). Talk about Cinderella Stories -- B1 one only one game all year, but came together in 2 exciting OT victories to make it to the championship game.
B1 delivered again in a thrilling OT game. In fact, it looked like B1 would win in regulation play, as they were on top by two goals (3-1) with less than 5 mintues to play. But B2 threw everything but the kitchen sink at the underdogs and scored two goals, one with left than a minute remaining.
On to overtime the game went. And what an overtime it was. Great goal tending matched great offense in a seesaw battle. It looked like it was heading to a shootout to determine the champion.
But with only a few minutes remaining in the OT, B2 placed a shot off the outside post and won the game.
It was a great season for B League and one of the greatest stories of the year was B1's surge through the playoffs. All of the kids had fun and worked hard -- and remember -- there is always next year.
Thanks coaches and players for making this one of our best seasons ever.
