Berti must Go

How can the Scottish Football Association continue to support this disappointment? After nearly two years of humiliating defeats (peppered with the odd remarkable victory) the silence from Hampden is quite deafening. Everyone is aware the Scottish game is currently in crisis (even more so since the new TV deal with Setanta seems to be wobbling), but should we expect the same from our national team? Can you believe we are actually 68th (Oct 04), and tumbling, in the FIFA world rankings, only 137 places to drop before we are the strongest team in the world, propping up the rest of the list!
I for one do not believe that our national players are as bad as recent results suggest, I am certain that the root of the problem is Bertis tactics, the sooner he gets the “Diamond formation” out of his head the better, no manager on this earth would try this system with practically a new defensive line-up during an international match.
When 2-0 down at half time, I would at the very least expect a change in tactics, I certainly would not substitute 2 players and force others to play out of their normal positions to have another go at it, but remarkably, those so called experts that run our game, yeah those SFA folk who have:
A. never played fitba.
B. never managed a fitba team.
make no comment, perhaps they were on a break and never actually saw any matches!! Will we ever find out, no probably not until it’s too late? So where does Berti go from here, well his after-match comments are absolute gems at times, “we will have to change something before the next game”, something? bloody something? He doesn’t even know what’s wrong, oh and what about “we had no organization” mmmmm, tricky one that Berti, thought that was your part of the deal!!!!

With half of the SPL clubs either in or about to enter into administration, other clubs debts increasing daily, players contracts being terminated, the SFA must be working hard to help alleviate these problems, naw your joking, they have got other business interests to attend to, c’mon SFA, pull your finger out, lets start our spring cleaning with a few shrewd decisions, ones that will make our national game move forward, lets:
1. Sack Berti, plain and simple, he has to go, who do I suggest to replace him, anybody, nobody else can be that bad, Rainer Bonhof does well with the Babes, perhaps he is worthy of a crack....Gordon Strachan, George Graham, Otto Rehhagel (the German who won Greece Euro 04), the Hampden cleaner!!!
2. Get Scotland back inside the top 30 FIFA rankings (at least) and back on the football-ing map, Scottish clubs are 8th best in European competitions, we expect the same internationally.
3. Go for the joint bid with Ireland to host the Euro champs in 2008/12, if you dont have the bottle, then get out and let someone in who can take the nation forward
