Newcastle Medics 1st Team play in the 1st Divsion of the Intra-Mural League at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne.
After a dissapointing finish of 3rd last season Medics will be looking to push for the inaugral league title to stake our claim as one of the Universities best teams.
Without doubt the side with the greatest team spirit in the entire league, and definitely the best/tightest strip, Medics will be looking to integrate and gel their new players as quick as possible.
What sets our season apart from other inter-mural teams is we have the privilege of representing the university at NAMS, which is a UK Medical Schools World Cup. Last year the tournament was hosted in Dublin and both the men’s and women’s teams enjoyed an amazing weekend away.
We also get to enter The Old Boys Tournament, which has us face off against Consultants, Registrars and a Junior Doctors team. After a usually fierce encounter, everyone shakes hands and the doctors take all the students out for a Curry in the evening!
This season we are looking to push for trophies on all four fronts. Can this year be as successful as 2006/2007 where Medics did the double winning both the league and the old boys torunament. Come on lads! |
