Birds Eye Voila! and US Youth Get Together for Soccer
As part of Birds Eye Voila!'s support of US Youth Soccer, it has launched a national sweepstakes devoted to assisting US Youth Soccer teams and clubs. Kansas Youth Soccer Player Makes US National Under-17 Team
Kansas Youth Soccer is very proud to announce that Amanda Laddish has made the United States U17 Women's World Cup team! Amanda is currently in New Zealand for the U17 Women's World Cup and in fact was in the starting 11 for the United States' first game held on October 29, 2008 against Japan.
Amanda is from Lee's Summit, MO and plays for the Blue Valley Stars Mallorca team.
We wish Amanda and her US teammates the best of luck.

Every so often when a U.S. Women’s National Team plays out of the country, a player will write an e-postcard, filling in the fans back home on the happenings of the team, off field activities and anything else on their mind. As the U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team counts down the days until its 2008 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup opener against Japan on Oct. 30, 16-year-old midfielder Mandy Laddish from Lee’s Summit, Missouri, muses on getting adjusted to the New Zealand time zone, swollen ankles, and her lack of proficiency in the French language. |

Former Kansas Youth Soccer Player Cat Buchanan Named WAC Defensive Player of the Week.
(Courtesy of the WAC, September 8, 2008) - Congrats to Cat Buchanan, Louisiana Tech goalkeeper for being named the Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player for the Week!
Buchanan, a freshman goalkeeper from Shawnee, Kan. (Shawnee Mission NW HS), recorded her second shutout of the season in a 2-0 victory over Stephen F. Austin. The Lady Techsters avenged a 7-2 loss at the hands of SFA in 2007. Buchanan became the first keeper in Tech history to begin her career with two consecutive shutouts. She also stopped all four shots she faced. The freshman has seven saves on the season and has yet to allow a goal. With the win, Louisiana Tech moves to 2-1 on the season, matching its win total from 2007 in just three games. Click Here to go to the WAC website release.

KSYSA RULE 5.2.12 - SUSPENSIONS/SEND OFFS
Any coach who is ejected from any competition shall remain under suspension until the penalty is served with the team the coach was coaching when ejected; provided, however, the coach is not charged with referee assault or abuse, in which case USSF policies 531-9 and 531-10 shall apply. If after seven (7) days and the penalty has not been served, the coach may be allowed to coach other teams to which (s)he was rostered at the time of the ejection provided payment of any associated fines has been satisfied. In addition, for the first ejection in any seasonal year the coach shall be assessed a fine of not less than Seventy Five Dollars ($75.00) to be collected by the competition authorities and paid to KSYSA; for a second ejection in any seasonal year the fine shall increase to an amount not less than One Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($150.00) to be collected by the competition authorities and paid to KSYSA; and, for a third and any additional ejection(s) in any seasonal year the fine shall increase to an amount not less than Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) to be collected by the competition authorities and paid to KSYSA. A failure to pay the fine within seven days of the ejection shall result in the coach remaining under suspension until such time as the fine is paid. Nothing in this rule precludes the competition authority from imposing additional penalties and fines beyond those provided by this Rule (Amended November 11, 2007).

This award acknowledges the efforts of a special soccer person who goes the extra mile for the sport and has a positive impact on the development of soccer in his or her community.

U.S. Soccer Foundation Announces 2006 Grants,
Benefiting 31 Groups, Including Twelve All Conditions Fields Grants
Kansas State Youth Soccer Association Awarded $100,000
WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Soccer Foundation, the Major Charitable Arm of Soccer in the United States, today announced that it has made funds available to 31 separate groups nationwide, in 18 different states, as part of its 11th annual grants program cycle. In total, the Foundation’s grants will make more than $1.7 million dollars available in the current year. Through its history, the Foundation has awarded over $21 million to soccer groups and facilities through its annual grants program. Since 1995, the organization has made over $40 million available for the growth of the game of soccer through grants and other financial support.The Foundation, through its partnership with NikeGO, awarded 12 All Conditions Fields grants for the construction of full-size soccer fields that can be used around the clock, no matter the weather.
In addition, the Foundation awarded 13 grants for soccer development programs and six for programs with field enhancements and upgrades. -READ MORE (PDF)
